AECOM’s Water Infrastructure Team is looking for a passionate Civil Engineer to help support senior technical staff. The successful candidate will coordinate with Senior Civil Engineers and Principal Civil Engineers to ensure the timely flow of technical documents (requisitions, drawings, specifications, calculations) between interfacing engineering disciplines.
The Water team brings together the skills of project managers, hydrologists, flood engineers, water scientists, numerical modellers, and environmental and planning specialists to provide integrated, sustainable and cost-effective solutions. Activities include planning, feasibility, design, project management, and asset management functions for; flood defences, dams, water supply and water treatment plants, pumping stations, pipe networks, sewerage, wastewater treatment plants, and outfalls. Our clients include local, national and global organisations, including water utilities, drainage authorities and ports throughout Ireland and the UK.
Role Duties:
- Contributing to the preparation and successful completion of Civil/Site deliverables, in conjunction with senior staff and other team members.
- Reviewing and/or drafting of technical calculations to high standards of quality using current computer software.
- Preparation of technical specifications.
- Review of work produced by others to ensure timely and accurate results.
- Provision of support and task supervision for more junior staff.
- Ensuring compliance of design with all applicable standards and regulations.
- Provision of support to technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
- Contributing to the carrying out of surveys, studies, site visits and investigations.
- Provision of field support for construction projects.
- Commitment to continued professional development and engagement with AECOM technical and non-technical learning paths.
- Contributions to determining budget estimates and staffing requirements for defined project scopes and schedules.
- Provision of support in the preparation of bids for new work, and in other business development activities as needed.

Minimum Requirements:
- Degree in Civil Engineering (preferably MEng).
- Some post graduate experience in design and management of civil infrastructure and/or non-infrastructure schemes.
- Ability to undertake elements of design or report preparation under supervision.
- Experience in developing and promoting Safety in Design practices throughout designs.
- Knowledge and experience in the Northern Ireland Water and/or Irish Water’s technical standards.
- Experience in contributing to the preparation of tender documents and drawings.
- Experience in contributing to the development of contract preparation and administration.
- Experience in technical checking and reviewing drawings and calculations.
- Understanding of wastewater discharge legislations.
- AutoCAD experience and proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding and working experience of wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure design standards and specifications.
- Network or other modelling experience.
- Working towards chartership.
