Pawsitive Daycare is looking for a full-time (leading to full-time within a few months of start date) dog daycare attendant. We are looking for someone who is physically active, has a good memory (The ability to distinguish dogs by name is just as important as not yelling "hey you" at your coworkers), has a positive attitude, and works well as a member of a small team.
We are a family-run and operated business. We have been running for 9-plus years with safety as a priority closely followed by fun and exercise. Our love for dogs goes beyond cuddles and comfort; we are structured, disciplined, and attentive to all the needs of our canine friends. We strive to provide a level of care that will leave all our dogs feeling loved and well taken care of.
This is a very active job where you are required to be on your feet much of the day, fast acting and very attentive to what is going on around you. This job requires you to be physically and mentally capable to handle the workload and the loud/busy environment.
Responsibilities
- What comes hand in hand with dogs... Cleaning! Although most of the day at Pawsitive is spent managing dog playgroups, there are clean-up responsibilities that come along with that.
- You are required to work much of the day on foot, this is a very active position.
- Managing dog play groups, making sure all dogs are happy and safe by keeping a close watch on your surroundings.
- Cleaning (Sweeping, washing kennels, collecting dog stool, removing waste and mopping)
- Strength (physically and mentally) to handle all sizes of dogs
- People skills to work well with a small team and to greet clients during drop-off and pick-up times.
Qualifications
You must have some experience with dogs. You will be expected to learn many different breeds, play styles, group dynamics, body language and dog behaviour and potentially grooming. As previously stated, this is a physically demanding job. We are very involved with the dogs' daily activities which means being out in the sun, rain, and snow.
We are looking to add to our growing business and fill a part time position leading to full time, this is not a 'summer job', NO students, please.
